Privacy Policy
Last updated October 26, 2026
The short version: Disclosed only collects what it needs to summarize filings and count your usage. We don't run ads, we don't use tracking or analytics tools, and we never sell your data.
This policy explains what the Disclosed Chrome extension and website (“Disclosed,” “we,” “us”) collect, why, and who it's shared with. Questions go to disclosedapp@gmail.com.
What we collect
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A random install ID | When you install the extension | To keep track of your plan and usage without an account. It's a random number, not tied to your name, and we only store a scrambled (hashed) version. |
| The address of the SEC filing you summarize | When you click Summarize or What changed | To fetch and summarize that filing, and to count it toward your plan's limit. |
| Your IP address | With each request | To limit free-tier abuse (for example, reinstalling to get more free summaries) and to protect the service. |
| Your email address | Only if you subscribe, or restore a plan on another browser | Stripe collects it at checkout. We use it to find your subscription and send you a one-time code when you restore your plan. |
| Payment details | When you subscribe | Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. |
The extension only runs on SEC.gov filing pages. It does not read your browsing history, other websites, or anything you type on other pages.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent, or trade your data.
- We don't show ads or share data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We don't use your data to decide creditworthiness or for lending.
- We don't use analytics or tracking tools on the extension.
Who we share data with
We use a few service providers to run Disclosed. Each only gets what it needs:
- Anthropic (the company behind the Claude AI model) receives the text of the public SEC filing to write the summary. It does not receive your install ID, email, or IP address.
- Stripe processes payments and stores your email and payment details. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Our hosting and email providers run our server and deliver restore codes.
- The SEC: our server downloads filings from SEC.gov, which is public. It does not send the SEC any information about you.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
The use of information received from the Disclosed extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only use the data described above to provide and improve Disclosed's single purpose: summarizing SEC filings.
How long we keep it
- Usage records (install ID, filing address, IP address, time) are kept for up to 12 months so plan limits work and we can prevent abuse.
- Restore codes expire after 15 minutes.
- Summaries of filings are cached so the next person who opens the same filing gets it instantly. Summaries are about public filings and don't contain information about you.
- Stripe keeps payment records as long as it is legally required to.
Your choices
- Uninstall the extension at any time. Your install ID is deleted from your browser when you do.
- Cancel your subscription anytime from the sidebar (click your plan badge, then Manage subscription).
- Email disclosedapp@gmail.com to ask for a copy of your data or to have it deleted. Include the email you used at checkout if you subscribed.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We store a hashed version of your install ID rather than the ID itself, and payment details never touch our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we collect to a minimum.
Children
Disclosed is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also note it in the extension.
